We stayed at the Majlis Resort in November 2011, and it was a fantastic experience overall. We have been to Kenya 4 to 5 times, but it was our 1st time in Lamu. The staff was attentive, and the cleanliness and food selection were second to none. I would highly recommend this luxury beach hotel to anyone who wants to spend the vacation in a tranquil, peaceful place surrounded by luxury and utmost natural beauty. John, Texas

You know when they say "a lost paradise"? Well, i found it! Out of choice, we stepped out of the 'boat taxi' into the warm waters of the indian ocean and waded a few feet onto the beach at the majlis. The smiling masaai watchman happily escorted us to the reception. The entire layout and structures of the majlis are a feast for the eyes. Simply genius! There are artifacts from everywhere & they fit in so well with the 'feeling' that they have created here. The place is is filled with an almost majestic splendour. Flawless attention to detail; a culinary indulgence that left us spoilt; they'll make you a customised ice cream here! This is not a regular touristy hotel. Its in a class of its own. Ps: there is no parking here! No cars, no bikes, no nothing! Just a boat taxi to the island!
